Attendance at New Mission

“In school everyday, that’s the Titan way!”

Why is school attendance important?

At New Mission, we strive to “empower all students to develop into critical thinkers and lifelong learners to better themselves, their futures, and their community”. One key component to achieving this is being in school, ready to learn.

At New Mission, we strive to show up and show out! We are committed to a 3-tiered model of attendance support. Our work ranges from whole-school events that celebrate on-track attendance, to individual interventions in which our goal is to eliminate barriers for our students.

Our Work

At New Mission, we use a tiered system of attendance intervention. The following structure, which displays just a few examples of our strategies, dictates our work:

A triangular diagram showing three tiers of student support. Tier 1 is universal support for all students, with small supportive groups. Tier 2 addresses student absences of 10-20% with after-school tutoring and community partnerships. Tier 3 is for chronic absences over 20%, involving individual intervention.
